    Get Up and Try Again

"For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief."

    Proverbs 24:16

Though he would later be acclaimed as one of the greatest inventors of history, Thomas Edison’s school career lasted three months. The teacher believed he was incapable of learning anything and sent him home. Edison’s mother taught him, and he was on his way to a lifetime of overcoming what seemed to be insurmountable obstacles. Among his most famous inventions were the commercial incandescent light bulb, the phonograph, and the fluoroscope. Most of his inventions required months if not years of dedication to overcoming obstacles before seeing any results.

In a 1921 interview, Edison described his persistence this way: "After we had conducted thousands of experiments on a certain project without solving the problem, one of my associates, after we had conducted the crowning experiment and it had proved a failure, expressed discouragement and disgust over our having failed to find out anything. I cheerily assured him that we had learned something. For we had learned for a certainty that the thing couldn't be done that way, and that we would have to try some other way."

Very few things of lasting significance and value are achieved without overcoming serious obstacles. The story of almost every “overnight success” is actually the story of someone continuing to persevere in the face of great difficulty and disappointment. If things do not work out the first time we try to accomplish something important, that is not a sign that we should give up and find something easier. No strong family, no strong church, no strong business is built without the tenacity to overcome obstacles and failures. Completing the work God has given us to do does not come without cost. Those who are willing to pay that cost and continue in spite of setbacks are the ones who reach the goal.

    Today’s Proverbs Precept:
You are not defeated when you are knocked down. You are defeated when you stop getting back up.

    CHAPTER 7

1 And it came to pass on the day that Moses had fully set up the tabernacle, and had anointed it, and sanctified it, and all the instruments thereof, both the altar and all the vessels thereof, and had anointed them, and sanctified them; 2 That the princes of Israel, heads of the house of their fathers, who were the princes of the tribes, and were over them that were numbered, offered: 3 And they brought their offering before the LORD, six covered wagons, and twelve oxen; a wagon for two of the princes, and for each one an ox: and they brought them before the tabernacle. 4 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 5 Take it of them, that they may be to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation; and thou shalt give them unto the Levites, to every man according to his service. 6 And Moses took the wagons and the oxen, and gave them unto the Levites. 7 Two wagons and four oxen he gave unto the sons of Gershon, according to their service: 8 And four wagons and eight oxen he gave unto the sons of Merari, according unto their service, under the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest. 9 But unto the sons of Kohath he gave none: because the service of the sanctuary belonging unto them was that they should bear upon their shoulders.

10 And the princes offered for dedicating of the altar in the day that it was anointed, even the princes offered their offering before the altar. 11 And the LORD said unto Moses, They shall offer their offering, each prince on his day, for the dedicating of the altar. 12 And he that offered his offering the first day was Nahshon the son of Amminadab, of the tribe of Judah: 13 And his offering was one silver charger, the weight thereof was an hundred and thirty shekels, one silver bowl of seventy shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary; This was the dedication of the altar, after that it was anointed. 89 And when Moses was gone into the tabernacle of the congregation to speak with him, then he heard the voice of one speaking unto him from off the mercy seat that was upon the ark of testimony, from between the two cherubims: and he spake unto him.

    CHAPTER 8

1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 2 Speak unto Aaron, and say unto him, When thou lightest the lamps, the seven lamps shall give light over against the candlestick. 3 And Aaron did so; he lighted the lamps thereof over against the candlestick, as the LORD commanded Moses. 4 And this work of the candlestick was of beaten gold, unto the shaft thereof, unto the flowers thereof, was beaten work: according unto the pattern which the LORD had shewed Moses, so he made the candlestick.

5 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 6 Take the Levites from among the children of Israel, and cleanse them. 7 And thus shalt thou do unto them, to cleanse them: Sprinkle water of purifying upon them, and let them shave all their flesh, and let them wash their clothes, and so make themselves clean. 8 Then let them take a young bullock with his meat offering, even fine flour mingled with oil, and another young bullock shalt thou take for a sin offering. 9 And thou shalt bring the Levites before the tabernacle of the congregation: and thou shalt gather the whole assembly of the children of Israel together: 10 And thou shalt bring the Levites before the LORD: and the children of Israel shall put their hands upon the Levites: 11 And Aaron shall offer the Levites before the LORD for an offering of the children of Israel, that they may execute the service of the LORD. 12 And the Levites shall lay their hands upon the heads of the bullocks: and thou shalt offer the one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering, unto the LORD, to make an atonement for the Levites. 13 And thou shalt set the Levites before Aaron, and before his sons, and offer them for an offering unto the LORD. 14 Thus shalt thou separate the Levites from among the children of Israel: and the Levites shall be mine. 15 And after that shall the Levites go in to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation: and thou shalt cleanse them, and offer them for an offering. 16 For they are wholly given unto me from among the children of Israel; instead of such as open every womb, even instead of the firstborn of all the children of Israel, have I taken them unto me. 17 For all the firstborn of the children of Israel are mine, both man and beast: on the day that I smote every firstborn in the land of Egypt I sanctified them for myself. 18 And I have taken the Levites for all the firstborn of the children of Israel. 19 And I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron and to his sons from among the children of Israel, to do the service of the children of Israel in the tabernacle of the congregation, and to make an atonement for the children of Israel: that there be no plague among the children of Israel, when the children of Israel come nigh unto the sanctuary. 20 And Moses, and Aaron, and all the congregation of the children of Israel, did to the Levites according unto all that the LORD commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so did the children of Israel unto them. 21 And the Levites were purified, and they washed their clothes; and Aaron offered them as an offering before the LORD; and Aaron made an atonement for them to cleanse them. 22 And after that went the Levites in to do their service in the tabernacle of the congregation before Aaron, and before his sons: as the LORD had commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so did they unto them. 23 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 24 This is it that belongeth unto the Levites: from twenty and five years old and upward they shall go in to wait upon the service of the tabernacle of the congregation: 25 And from the age of fifty years they shall cease waiting upon the service thereof, and shall serve no more: 26 But shall minister with their brethren in the tabernacle of the congregation, to keep the charge, and shall do no service. Thus shalt thou do unto the Levites touching their charge.

    New Testament Reading
    Mark 4:21

21 And he said unto them, Is a candle brought to be put under a bushel, or under a bed? and not to be set on a candlestick? 22 For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad. 23 If any man have ears to hear, let him hear. 24 And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given. 25 For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath. 26 And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground; 27 And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how. 28 For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear. 29 But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come. 30 And he said, Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it? 31 It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth: 32 But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it. 33 And with many such parables spake he the word unto them, as they were able to hear it. 34 But without a parable spake he not unto them: and when they were alone, he expounded all things to his disciples.

35 And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side. 36 And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships. 37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. 38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? 39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. 40 And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith? 41 And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?

    Proverb of the Day
    Proverbs 24

1 Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them. 2 For their heart studieth destruction, and their lips talk of mischief. 3 Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established: 4 And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches. 5 A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength. 6 For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counsellors there is safety. 7 Wisdom is too high for a fool: he openeth not his mouth in the gate. 8 He that deviseth to do evil shall be called a mischievous person. 9 The thought of foolishness is sin: and the scorner is an abomination to men. 10 If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small. 11 If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready to be slain; 12 If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? and shall not he render to every man according to his works? 13 My son, eat thou honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste: 14 So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off. 15 Lay not wait, O wicked man, against the dwelling of the righteous; spoil not his resting place: 16 For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief. 17 Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth: 18 Lest the LORD see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him. 19 Fret not thyself because of evil men, neither be thou envious at the wicked; 20 For there shall be no reward to the evil man; the candle of the wicked shall be put out. 21 My son, fear thou the LORD and the king: and meddle not with them that are given to change: 22 For their calamity shall rise suddenly; and who knoweth the ruin of them both? 23 These things also belong to the wise. It is not good to have respect of persons in judgment. 24 He that saith unto the wicked, Thou art righteous; him shall the people curse, nations shall abhor him: 25 But to them that rebuke him shall be delight, and a good blessing shall come upon them. 26 Every man shall kiss his lips that giveth a right answer. 27 Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field; and afterwards build thine house. 28 Be not a witness against thy neighbour without cause; and deceive not with thy lips. 29 Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done to me: I will render to the man according to his work. 30 I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding; 31 And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down. 32 Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction. 33 Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: 34 So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.

    Keep the Landmarks in Place

    By Paul Chappell

      Saturday, Feb 23, 2013

"Remove not the old landmark; and enter not into the fields of the fatherless:"

    Proverbs 23:10

On June 1, 1796 the “Volunteer State”—Tennessee—entered the Union and became the sixteenth state. Formed from land that had once been considered part of North Carolina, the borders of the new state were recognized by Congress as part of the admissions process. But it was not long before a dispute arose between Tennessee and Georgia over exactly where the boundary line between the two should have been placed—whether it should be exactly along the 35th parallel or close to it.

The state of Georgia contends that much of the city of Chattanooga and a good part of the Tennessee River that flows nearby should not be within the boundaries of Tennessee but part of Georgia instead. For nearly two hundred years now, the two states have been unable to resolve the dispute. The boundary between them remains a point of contention.

There is great value in having established, settled, and certain landmarks. It is true in the political realm, and it is true in the spiritual realm as well. Though we live in a society where everything is open to challenge and change, there are timeless principles of truth that should never be moved. Though we should always be learning and growing in our walk with God, the things that were true yesterday are still true today and will be true tomorrow.

The ancient landmarks—those things that have been believed and held dear by Christians through the centuries—are not in need of relocation or revision. Today we hear “reasoned” appeals to re-examine our core beliefs. Those are the siren calls of the tempter meant to lure us away from what is right. The old landmarks were placed where they are for a reason, and it is the task of our generation to defend those truths, not change them.

    Today’s Proverbs Precept:
Do not allow anything or anyone to persuade you to give up the ancient landmarks of the faith.

    CHAPTER 5

1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 2 Command the children of Israel, that they put out of the camp every leper, and every one that hath an issue, and whosoever is defiled by the dead: 3 Both male and female shall ye put out, without the camp shall ye put them; that they defile not their camps, in the midst whereof I dwell. 4 And the children of Israel did so, and put them out without the camp: as the LORD spake unto Moses, so did the children of Israel. 5 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 6 Speak unto the children of Israel, When a man or woman shall commit any sin that men commit, to do a trespass against the LORD, and that person be guilty; 7 Then they shall confess their sin which they have done: and he shall recompense his trespass with the principal thereof, and add unto it the fifth part thereof, and give it unto him against whom he hath trespassed. 8 But if the man have no kinsman to recompense the trespass unto, let the trespass be recompensed unto the LORD, even to the priest; beside the ram of the atonement, whereby an atonement shall be made for him. 9 And every offering of all the holy things of the children of Israel, which they bring unto the priest, shall be his. 10 And every man's hallowed things shall be his: whatsoever any man giveth the priest, it shall be his.

11 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 12 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, If any man's wife go aside, and commit a trespass against him, 13 And a man lie with her carnally, and it be hid from the eyes of her husband, and be kept close, and she be defiled, and there be no witness against her, neither she be taken with the manner; 14 And the spirit of jealousy come upon him, and he be jealous of his wife, and she be defiled: or if the spirit of jealousy come upon him, and he be jealous of his wife, and she be not defiled: 15 Then shall the man bring his wife unto the priest, and he shall bring her offering for her, the tenth part of an ephah of barley meal; he shall pour no oil upon it, nor put frankincense thereon; for it is an offering of jealousy, an offering of memorial, bringing iniquity to remembrance. 16 And the priest shall bring her near, and set her before the LORD: 17 And the priest shall take holy water in an earthen vessel; and of the dust that is in the floor of the tabernacle the priest shall take, and put it into the water: 18 And the priest shall set the woman before the LORD, and uncover the woman's head, and put the offering of memorial in her hands, which is the jealousy offering: and the priest shall have in his hand the bitter water that causeth the curse: 19 And the priest shall charge her by an oath, and say unto the woman, If no man have lain with thee, and if thou hast not gone aside to uncleanness with another instead of thy husband, be thou free from this bitter water that causeth the curse: 20 But if thou hast gone aside to another instead of thy husband, and if thou be defiled, and some man have lain with thee beside thine husband: 21 Then the priest shall charge the woman with an oath of cursing, and the priest shall say unto the woman, The LORD make thee a curse and an oath among thy people, when the LORD doth make thy thigh to rot, and thy belly to swell; 22 And this water that causeth the curse shall go into thy bowels, to make thy belly to swell, and thy thigh to rot: And the woman shall say, Amen, amen. 23 And the priest shall write these curses in a book, and he shall blot them out with the bitter water: 24 And he shall cause the woman to drink the bitter water that causeth the curse: and the water that causeth the curse shall enter into her, and become bitter. 25 Then the priest shall take the jealousy offering out of the woman's hand, and shall wave the offering before the LORD, and offer it upon the altar: 26 And the priest shall take an handful of the offering, even the memorial thereof, and burn it upon the altar, and afterward shall cause the woman to drink the water. 27 And when he hath made her to drink the water, then it shall come to pass, that, if she be defiled, and have done trespass against her husband, that the water that causeth the curse shall enter into her, and become bitter, and her belly shall swell, and her thigh shall rot: and the woman shall be a curse among her people. 28 And if the woman be not defiled, but be clean; then she shall be free, and shall conceive seed. 29 This is the law of jealousies, when a wife goeth aside to another instead of her husband, and is defiled; 30 Or when the spirit of jealousy cometh upon him, and he be jealous over his wife, and shall set the woman before the LORD, and the priest shall execute upon her all this law. 31 Then shall the man be guiltless from iniquity, and this woman shall bear her iniquity.

    CHAPTER 6

1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When either man or woman shall separate themselves to vow a vow of a Nazarite, to separate themselves unto the LORD: 3 He shall separate himself from wine and strong drink, and shall drink no vinegar of wine, or vinegar of strong drink, neither shall he drink any liquor of grapes, nor eat moist grapes, or dried. 4 All the days of his separation shall he eat nothing that is made of the vine tree, from the kernels even to the husk. 5 All the days of the vow of his separation there shall no razor come upon his head: until the days be fulfilled, in the which he separateth himself unto the LORD, he shall be holy, and shall let the locks of the hair of his head grow. 6 All the days that he separateth himself unto the LORD he shall come at no dead body. 7 He shall not make himself unclean for his father, or for his mother, for his brother, or for his sister, when they die: because the consecration of his God is upon his head. 8 All the days of his separation he is holy unto the LORD. 9 And if any man die very suddenly by him, and he hath defiled the head of his consecration; then he shall shave his head in the day of his cleansing, on the seventh day shall he shave it. 10 And on the eighth day he shall bring two turtles, or two young pigeons, to the priest, to the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: 11 And the priest shall offer the one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering, and make an atonement for him, for that he sinned by the dead, and shall hallow his head that same day. 12 And he shall consecrate unto the LORD the days of his separation, and shall bring a lamb of the first year for a trespass offering: but the days that were before shall be lost, because his separation was defiled. 13 And this is the law of the Nazarite, when the days of his separation are fulfilled: he shall be brought unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: 14 And he shall offer his offering unto the LORD, one he lamb of the first year without blemish for a burnt offering, and one ewe lamb of the first year without blemish for a sin offering, and one ram without blemish for peace offerings, 15 And a basket of unleavened bread, cakes of fine flour mingled with oil, and wafers of unleavened bread anointed with oil, and their meat offering, and their drink offerings. 16 And the priest shall bring them before the LORD, and shall offer his sin offering, and his burnt offering: 17 And he shall offer the ram for a sacrifice of peace offerings unto the LORD, with the basket of unleavened bread: the priest shall offer also his meat offering, and his drink offering. 18 And the Nazarite shall shave the head of his separation at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and shall take the hair of the head of his separation, and put it in the fire which is under the sacrifice of the peace offerings. 19 And the priest shall take the sodden shoulder of the ram, and one unleavened cake out of the basket, and one unleavened wafer, and shall put them upon the hands of the Nazarite, after the hair of his separation is shaven: 20 And the priest shall wave them for a wave offering before the LORD: this is holy for the priest, with the wave breast and heave shoulder: and after that the Nazarite may drink wine. 21 This is the law of the Nazarite who hath vowed, and of his offering unto the LORD for his separation, beside that that his hand shall get: according to the vow which he vowed, so he must do after the law of his separation.

22 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 23 Speak unto Aaron and unto his sons, saying, On this wise ye shall bless the children of Israel, saying unto them, 24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: 25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: 26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace. 27 And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel; and I will bless them.

    New Testament Reading
    Mark 4:1

1 And he began again to teach by the sea side: and there was gathered unto him a great multitude, so that he entered into a ship, and sat in the sea; and the whole multitude was by the sea on the land. 2 And he taught them many things by parables, and said unto them in his doctrine, 3 Hearken; Behold, there went out a sower to sow: 4 And it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and the fowls of the air came and devoured it up. 5 And some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth; and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of earth: 6 But when the sun was up, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away. 7 And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit. 8 And other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and brought forth, some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred. 9 And he said unto them, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. 10 And when he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked of him the parable. 11 And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables: 12 That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them. 13 And he said unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all parables? 14 The sower soweth the word. 15 And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts. 16 And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness; 17 And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word's sake, immediately they are offended. 18 And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word, 19 And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful. 20 And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.

    Proverb of the Day
    Proverbs 23

1 When thou sittest to eat with a ruler, consider diligently what is before thee: 2 And put a knife to thy throat, if thou be a man given to appetite. 3 Be not desirous of his dainties: for they are deceitful meat. 4 Labour not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom. 5 Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven. 6 Eat thou not the bread of him that hath an evil eye, neither desire thou his dainty meats: 7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee. 8 The morsel which thou hast eaten shalt thou vomit up, and lose thy sweet words. 9 Speak not in the ears of a fool: for he will despise the wisdom of thy words. 10 Remove not the old landmark; and enter not into the fields of the fatherless: 11 For their redeemer is mighty; he shall plead their cause with thee. 12 Apply thine heart unto instruction, and thine ears to the words of knowledge. 13 Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die. 14 Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell. 15 My son, if thine heart be wise, my heart shall rejoice, even mine. 16 Yea, my reins shall rejoice, when thy lips speak right things. 17 Let not thine heart envy sinners: but be thou in the fear of the LORD all the day long. 18 For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off. 19 Hear thou, my son, and be wise, and guide thine heart in the way. 20 Be not among winebibbers; among riotous eaters of flesh: 21 For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty: and drowsiness shall clothe a man with rags. 22 Hearken unto thy father that begat thee, and despise not thy mother when she is old. 23 Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding. 24 The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him. 25 Thy father and thy mother shall be glad, and she that bare thee shall rejoice. 26 My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways. 27 For a whore is a deep ditch; and a strange woman is a narrow pit. 28 She also lieth in wait as for a prey, and increaseth the transgressors among men. 29 Who hath woe? who hath sorrow? who hath contentions? who hath babbling? who hath wounds without cause? who hath redness of eyes? 30 They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine. 31 Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright. 32 At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder. 33 Thine eyes shall behold strange women, and thine heart shall utter perverse things. 34 Yea, thou shalt be as he that lieth down in the midst of the sea, or as he that lieth upon the top of a mast. 35 They have stricken me, shalt thou say, and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I felt it not: when shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.

    FIVE STEPS TO SALVATION

"That whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life" Jn 3:16

"For Yahvah so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have eternal life." Jn 3:16

"For Yahvah sent not His son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved" Jn 3:17

The Scripture plainly shows that the only way to obtain salvation is through the Messiah and His sacrifice. Under the terms and the conditions of the Restored Covenant, one must be called by Yahvah, believe in Yahvah, repent of sin, be baptized (Ac 2:38), have hands laid on them to receive the Holy Ghost. The simple truth is that the majority of people past and present have notd had sufficient knowledge to the understanding of the Creator Yahvah of Israel, His Heavenly Father, or His Plans for human beings. However, how will people who never hearde of Messiah or His sacrifice obtain salvation and everlasting life?

Apostle Paul addressing the Sanhedrin said, "the people of Israel that by the name of Yahvahosha Messiah of Nazareth, who ye impaled, who Yahvah raised from the dead, even by Him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the strone which was set at naight of ye builders, which is come the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we mustd be saved." Ac 4:10-12.

Despite the tremendous missionary and evangelistic efforts of people, many have never heard of Yahvahosha Messiah, or maybe they have heard of Him but they indeed do not know Yahvah's plan for humanity. Even in this age, there are many people who will never hear the name of Yahvahosha Messiah or understand His message before His return.

In the book of John chapter 6 we read thus "No man can come to Me except the Father who hath sent Me draw him and I will raise him up in the last day. It is written in the prophets, and they shall be all taught of Yahvah. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father cometh unto Me. Jn 6:44-45.

    STEPS TO SALVATION

    We must believe in Messiah.

How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? Ro 10:14. Ministers can be sent to preach. Ministers may have all the financial support to travel and let us not forget what Messiah says, "That no one is able to come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him." Jn 6:44. Yes it is through Yahvah's called righteous example, the gospel will be observed and heard. But will all accept our example? The answer is simply NO!! Not everyone will receive our living example.

What steps should be followed and taken IF called.

    I. STEP ONE

We must believe in Messiah as  we mentioned. "He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned." Mk 16:6

    II. STEP TWO

We must confess our sins. If we confess our sins, be faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 Jn 1:9.

I have a very short story to tell you. When my cousin was in Public School his parents signed him up for a Catholic mission in St. Alice Public School. The condition of the school was that all students were to attend morning session of the Catholic Church. The Priest would sit somewhere by the corner and everyone was to go one by one kneeling before him and tell him every sin he or she had done. The priest then would say your sin has been forgive. However young he was, he refused to go to the priest and kneel before him and do as he expected. He was sent home to ask his father to come and explain why he could not do what others were doing. When his father came, he said that we had freedom of worship and no one could be forced to worship the way others were worshipping. My question is how can we confess our sins and to who can we confess our sins to?

In Apostle John's brief letter he said "Hereby know we that we dwell in Him and He is in us because He hath give us of His spirit. And we see and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the saviour of the world. Whosoever shall confess that Yahvahosha Messiah is the Son of Yahvah, Yahvah dwelleth in him and he in Yahvah. 1 Jn 4:13-15. The Scripture states clearly that it is only Messiah to whom we should confess our sins too, not a priest or church leader. I sometimes think of the second coming of Messiah and it could be today. Where would I be when He returns? Ask yourself the same question. Where will you be when He returns?

    III. STEP THREE

One must repent and accept Yahvahosha Messiah as their personal Saviour before they can be baptized. Baptism is the major key to Salvation. If we think again of Mk 16:16, "He that believeth and is baptized." Not only believing and being baptized. Notice, "Then Peter said, Repent every one of you and be baptized in the name of Yahvahosha Messiah, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Ac 2:38. Let us repent and be baptized in order to receive the Holy Ghost.

    IV. STEP FOUR

A person has to have hands layed on for the receiving of Yahvah's Holy Ghost "Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the Word of Yahvah, they sent unto them Peter and John: Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: For as yet it was fallen upon none of them: only they that were baptized in the name of the Saviour Yahvahosha Messiah. They laid their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost." Ac 8:14-17

    V. STEP FIVE:

Obey Yahvah. We too must obey Yahvah. Remember if the son does not obey the father, do you think the father will be happy with him? The answer is no. If the son obeys the Father, then the father will be happy with him. The same way if we obey Yahvah, He will be happy with us and thus will receive salvation through Him. Ac 5:32 tells us "And we are His witness of these things, so is also the Holy Ghost who Yahvah hath give Him. For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that is lost." (Lk 19:10).

Brethren, by your good example, try and encourage others to this saving light. "Then said Yahvahosha to them again, peace be unto you, as My Father hath sent Me, even so send I you" Jn 20:21.

Ask Yahvahosha into you your heart and live according to Ac 2:38. Then be  baptized according too Ac 2:38 and receive the Holy Ghost according to Ac 2:38.

  • T&M SABBATH 2-23-13 THE HOLY GHOST--A PARTNER WHO WANTS TO TAKE RESPONSIILITY FOR YOU IN THIS LIFE!

The grace of the Saviour Yahvahosha Messiah, and the love of Yahvah and the communion of the Holy Ghost be with you all. Halleluyah. 2 Co 13:14

Most all of us would say we want to live a victorious Religious life. But without daily communion with the Holy Ghost, it is impossible to attain that goal. Communion with the Holy Ghost is the launching pad for a life of supernatural power and consistency.

In 2 Co 13:14 Paul says, "The grace of the Saviour Yahvahosha Messiah, and the love of Yahvah and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Halleluyah." I want you to notive the word "communion" in this verse, because communion with the Spirit is what we are talking about today. The word "communion" is the greek word Koinonia, a word that has a whole flavor of meaning, but one primary meaning is that of partnershipo.

An example of koinonia conveying the idea of partnership can be found in Lk 5:7 after Yahvahosha supplied a miraculous catch of fish. after the fishermen had finished all night and caught nothing, Yahvahosha told them to cast their net on the other side. When they obeyed, they caught such a massive amount of fish that the net began to break!

Peterknew he couldn't handle this miraculous catch by himself, so he callled to otdher fishermen in nearby boats to come and assist. Lk 5:7 says, "And the3y beckoned unto their partnerts which were in the other ship, and they should come and help them. And they came and filled both the ships, so that they begin to sink."

Do you see the word "partners" in this  verse? It is a form of the word koinonia. However, in Lk 5:7 it refers to real, legitimate business partners. One scholar says that this word used in this context lets us know that Peter was no small-time fisherman. He owned an entire fishing enterprise, and those men in the other boats were his business associates or his company partners. Whether these other fishermen were co-owners or employees who worked for Peter, they were all working together on the same job and were focused on a joint venture to catch and sell fish.

Keep this in mind, 2 Co 13:14 could convey the following idea: "...and the PARTNERSHIP of the Holy ghost be with you all."

If you stop and think about it, this really makes a lot of sense. When Yahvahosha's earthly ministry was in operation He and the Holy Ghost always always worked together Yahvahosha was conceived of the Holy Ghost (Lk 1:35); empowered by the Holy Ghost (Mt 3:16); and led by the Holy ghost (Mt 4:1). Yahvahosha also healed people by the power of the Holy Ghost (Ac 10:38); cast out demons by the power of the Holy Ghost (Mt 12:28); was resurrected from the dead by the power of the Holy Ghost (Ro 8:11); and was seated at Yahvah's right hand in the heavenly places through the power of the Holy Ghost (Eph 1:19-20).

Every time we see Yahvahosha in the Gospels. He is working hand with the Holy Ghost. In fact, Yahvahosha even said He wouldn't initiate anything by Himself, indicating His total dependence on the Spirit of Yahvah (Jn 5:30). Well, if Yahvahosha needed this kind of ongoing partnership with the Holy Ghost in order to accomplish His divine role in the earth, we certainly have to have it as well!

But there is yet another idea conveyed by the word "communion" (koinonia)--that is, the idea of taking responsibility for someone. An example of this is found in Phil 4:14, when Paul wrote to the Philippians and commended them for the generous gift they sent for his ministry. He wrote "communicate" here is another use of the word koinonia.

At the time Paul wrote the Philippian letter, he was in prison in Rome. Over the years, he had traveled and preached, raised up assemblies, worked with leaders, and given his life for the Assembly. But of all the assemblies Paul had poured his life into, none of them helped him financially the way they should have.

In order to cover his expenses, Paul worked as a tentmaker during the day; then preached and trained leaders during the evenings. This wasn't the best plan, but because no one would support him, it was what he had to do. He was pouring out his heart and soul into the assemblies that were not financially helping him to bear his load.

Paul was in prison in Rome when he received a special delivery letter from the Philippians. In that package, he found a sizable offering that the Philippian assembly had sent to support him during his time of difficulty. In other words, the Philippian Assembly didn't just say, "We'll pray for your situation, Brother," and then forget about Paul. Instead, they understood their responsibility to help him, so they took up an offering to support him and to communicate their love for him. In other words, they took responsibility for him. Paul used the Greek word Koinonia to convey this meaning--the same word he used in 2 Co 13:14 when he writes about the "communion of the Holy Ghost."

Thus 2 Co 13:14 could also be read this way: "...and the RESPONSIBILITY of the Holy Ghost be with you all."

This means that just as the Holy Ghost wants to become your Partner, He also wants to assume great responsibility for you in this world. If you wish, He'll stand by and watch you try to do it all alone. But if you'll open your heart to the Spirit of Yahvah, He will assume a more active role in your life. He wants you to know that you are not alone--and that He will take responsibility for you!

Begin today to develop a walk of daily communion with the Greater One within. Let Him be all He wants to be in your life--your Source of wisdom, power, and strength to launch you forth into victory!

PRAYER: HOLY GHOST, I WANT TO THANK YOU FOR BEING MY PARTNER IN THIS WORLD, THROUGH YAHVAH. IN NEED YOUR PARTNERSHIP. I KNOW THAT WITHOUT YOU, I AM SO LIMITED IN WHAT I AM ABLE TO DO. YOU SEE WHAT I CAN'T SEE; YOU KNOW WHAT I DON'T KNOW; YOU HAVE WISDOM AND INSIGHT THAT I DON'T HAVE. I SIMPLY MUST HAVE YOUR HELP IF I AM GOING TO DO WHAT YAHVAH HAS ASKED ME TO DO., I ASK YOU TO PLEASE FORGIVE ME FOR ALL THE TIMES I HAVE GOTTEN IN SUCH A HURRY THAT I DIDN'T TAKE TIME TO FELLOWSHIP WITH YOU. FROM THIS MOMENT ON, I PROMISE I WILL DO MY BEST TO CONSULT YOU BEFORE I MAKE A DECISION OR TAKE A SINGLE STEP! I PRAY THIS IN YAHVAHOSHA'S NAME!

    MY CONFESSION FOR TODAY

I confess that I am led by the Spirit of Yahvah. I am careful not to make  big decisions without consulting Him first. The Holy Ghost is my Leader, my Teacher, and my Guide; therefore, I look to Him to help me make the right decisions and take the right actions in every sphere of my life--my family, my business, and my ministry. Every day I experience more and more victory because I allow the Holy Ghost to direct all my steps. I declare this by faith in Yahvahosha's Name!

    Cat Rules of Hampering

If one of your humans is engaged in some close activity and the other is idle, stay with the busy one. This is called "helping", otherwise known as "hampering." Following are the rules for "hampering":

    1. When supervising cooking, sit just behind the left heel of the cook. You cannot be seen and thereby stand a better chance of being stepped on and then picked up and comforted. It's even funnier when they try to avoid stepping on you and fall into a counter or table.

    2. For book readers, get in close under the chin, between eyes and book, unless you can lie across the book itself.

    3. For paperwork, lie on the work in the most appropriate manner so as to obscure as much of the work or at least the most important part. Pretend to doze, but every so often reach out and slap the pencil or pen. The worker may try to distract you; ignore it. Remember, the aim is to hamper work.

    4. When a human is holding the newspaper in front of him/her, be sure to jump on the back of the paper.

    Signs That You Are Cheap

    1. You attend a weekly coupon club.

    2. You've been driving on the spare tire for over three months.

    3. Fast food is your idea of fine dining.

    4. You spend more time counting change during a single week than you spend at church.

    5. You're outraged when the price of a can of soda goes up a nickel.

    6. You haven't purchased a name brand product in the past ten years.

    7. You take the pennies from the container next to the cash register.

    8. Your family gets presents a week after Christmas because you love that fifty-percent discount.

    9. Matinee. Every time.

    10. You code all your own software rather than buy it.
