IS THERE REALLY A GOOD FRIDAY AND SUNDAY RESURRECTION?
I would like to start by asking this question. Is there really such a thing as Good Friday, by Scripture?
Scripture tells us something different about this whole topic.
So many seek after a sign and is that what we are suppose to do?
We will look at Mt 12:39-40 to start with. "But He answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign ("adulterous" spoken of Israel's spiritual adultery, which means that they were worshiping something other that Yahvah; had they been worshiping Yahvah, they would have accepted Messiah.)
Look closely at Mt 12:40 closely. For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the Earth.
The question is this, how long was Jonah in the whale' belly? THREE DAYS AND THREE NIGHTS.
Not parts of days or parts of nights. This is the first clue that the Messiah Yahvahosha had to be in the GRAVE, THREE DAYS AND NIGHTS.
Now we turn to Jn 19:31 and see what happened then The Jews therefore it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the Stake on the Sabbath Day (for the Sabbath Day was an high day) (This Sabbath day does not speak of the regular Jewish Sabbath of Saturday, but rather of the "High Day" of the Passover, also called a Sabbath, which took place on a Wednesday) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.
This shows here, this was not the regular weekly Sabbath
Let us find out when He was to be impaled.
Da 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week of the week he shall cause the sacrifices and the oblation to cease and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
First we will ask when is the middle of the week? Since we know the first day of the week is Sunday then the middle of the week is Wednesday.
What was going on during this week/ They were feasting and getting ready for Passover and unleavened bread. This also talking about the end times too.
So since they were getting ready for the Passover, we need to see when the Passover would be on what day of the month. We will now look at Lev 23:4-6 These are the Feast of Yahvah, even holy convocations, which you shall proclaim in their seasons.
When are they to be done? IN THEIR SEASONS.
vs 5 In the fourteen day of the first month at evening is YAHVAH's Passover. v6. And on the fifteen day of the same month is the Feast of Unleavened Bread unto YAHVAH..."
So it is the 14th of the Month either March or April is the Passover.
What does the Scripture say about the Sabbath and why Jn 19:31 can not be the day before the weekly Sabbath.
Let us go too the 10 Commandments, Ex 20:8-11 Remember the Sabbath Day to keep it holy. Six days you shall labour and do all your work: But the seventh day is the Sabbath of YAHVAH your Eternal: in it you shall not do any work, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, your maidservant, nor your manservant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger that is within your gate. For in six days YAHVAH made Heaven and Earth the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore YAHVAH blessed the Sabbath Day and hallowed it.
According to these verses we are not too work on the Sabbath
Back in Jn 19:31 it says the bodies should not remain on the Stake on the Sabbath Day.
What Sabbath Day. This was the preparation day for the Passover, not the weekly Sabbath. We have so far seen that no work is done on the Sabbath. Jonah was in the belly of the whale 3 days and nights. A type of the Messiah.
Let us learn what happened during death, and we will take it from Mt 27:45-46 Now from the sixth hour (noon() there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour (3 p.m.) And about the ninth hour Yahvahosha cried with a loud voice, saying Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My Yahvah, My Yahvah, why have You forsaken me.
We see plainly here that the sun went dark at noon, and He gave up His Spirit at 3 p.m. or he died then.
We remember the Mt 12 Scriptures that says Jonah a type of Messiah was in the Whale (like grave) 3 complete days and complete nights.Since there is no work done the Sabbath, that means IF Friday evening was the Passover, which would have been the beginning of the Sabbath, they would have been cooking and eating the Lamb etc on a day that they were told to do no work in.
From Da 9:27 we found out in the middle of the week all this would be stopped.
So Yahvahosha was killed on Wed. buried on Wed. and three days and nights later, not parts of, would have Him rise from the grave on the Sabbath about 3 p.m. 72 hours laterWhen we read Mt 28:1, Mk 16:1; Lk 24:1; Jn 20:1 all tell us the same thing, just worded different, that when they came to see the Messiah, He was risen.
So the Messiah, rose on the Sabbath. How can we have Friday to Sunday as three days and three night. Because IF he did die on Friday He could not have risen until Monday night.
He could not have risen in the Morning in the first place, because He did not die in the morning.
So good Friday and a Sunday Resurrection are WRONG.
He died on Wed. 3p.m. and rose Sabbath (Sat ) about 3 p.m. 72 hours later. late afternoon.
So doing all this that you do every year to say He died on Friday and rose on Sunday is Tradition and is not supported by Scripture. Bro. Doc

@HUMOR_ME_NOW - I will say this Bro. Frank, and it does matter. Either we follow what the Word of Yahvah says or we follow what has been handed down to us by the Pope and the Roman Catholic Assembly. There is no way to get three days and three complete night from Friday to Sunday etc. So for us in our Organization and Assembly, we keep it the death on Wed. and Resurrection on Sabbath. But I didn't post this to start an argument with anyone, just to have them think about the TRUTH. Hope you have a blessed Weekend and we will have a blessed Sabbath. Bro. Doc
Many have questioned this in the past, at least in the churches I attended. John Mac Arthur spoke on this issue and still believes the traditional practice.
As for me, it does not matter at all. I will let you have the last word---you are the professional and you have really studied it.
Blessings and hope you have a blessed Sabbath day.
