    Dangers of Casual E-Mailing

An Illinois man left the snow-filled streets of Chicago for a vacation in Florida. His wife was on a business trip and was planning to meet him there the next day.

When he reached his hotel in Florida, he decided to send his wife a quick e-mail. Unable to find the scrap of paper on which he had written her e-mail address, he did his best to type it in from memory. Unfortunately, he missed one letter on the address and his note was directed instead to an elderly preacher’s wife whose husband had passed away only the day before.

When the grieving widow checked her e-mail, she took one look at the monitor, let out a loud scream, and fell to the floor in a faint. At the sound, her family rushed into the room, and saw this note on the screen:

    DEAREST WIFE:
    JUST GOT CHECKED IN.
EVERYTHING IS PREPARED FOR YOUR ARRIVAL TOMORROW.

P.S. SURE IS HOT DOWN HERE…

    Yesterday for IT People

    Yesterday,
All those backups seemed a waste of pay.
Now my database has gone away.
    Oh I believe in yesterday.

    Suddenly,
There’s not half the files there used to be,
And there’s a milestone hanging over me
    The system crashed so suddenly.

    I pushed something wrong
What it was I could not say.

    Now all my data’s gone
    and I long for yesterday-ay-ay-ay.

    Yesterday,
The need for back-ups seemed so far away.
I knew my data was all here to stay,
    Now I believe in yesterday.

  • IS THERE REALLY A GOOD FRIDAY AND SUNDAY RESURRECTION?

I would like to start by asking this question. Is there really such a thing as Good Friday, by Scripture?

Scripture tells us something different about this whole topic.

So many seek after a sign and is that what we are suppose to do?

We will look at Mt 12:39-40 to start with. “But He answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign (“adulterous” spoken of Israel’s spiritual adultery, which means that they were worshiping something other that Yahvah; had they been worshiping Yahvah, they would have accepted Messiah.)

Look closely at Mt 12:40 closely. For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the Earth.

The question is this, how long was Jonah in the whale’ belly? THREE DAYS AND THREE NIGHTS.
Not parts of days or parts of nights.

This is the first clue that the Messiah Yahvahosha had to be in the GRAVE, THREE DAYS AND NIGHTS.

Now we turn to Jn 19:31 and see what happened then The Jews therefore it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the Stake on the Sabbath Day (for the Sabbath Day was an high day) (This Sabbath day does not speak of the regular Jewish Sabbath of Saturday, but rather of the “High Day” of the Passover, also called a Sabbath, which took place on a Wednesday) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.

This shows here, this was not the regular weekly Sabbath

Let us find out when He was to be impaled.

Da 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week of the week he shall cause the sacrifices and the oblation to cease and for the overspreading of  abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

First we will ask when is the middle of the week? Since we know the first day of the week is Sunday then the middle of the week is Wednesday.
What was going on during this week/ They were feasting and getting ready for Passover and unleavened bread.

This also talking about the end times too.
So since they were getting ready for the Passover, we need to see when the Passover would be on what day of the month.

We will now look at Lev 23:4-6 These are the Feast of Yahvah, even holy convocations, which you shall proclaim in their seasons.

When are they to be done? IN THEIR SEASONS.

vs 5 In the fourteen day of the first month at evening is YAHVAH’s Passover. v6. And on the fifteen day of the same month is the Feast of Unleavened Bread unto YAHVAH…”

So it is the 14th of the Month either March or April is the Passover.

What does the Scripture say about the Sabbath and why Jn 19:31 can not be the day before the weekly Sabbath.

Let us go too the 10 Commandments, Ex 20:8-11 Remember the Sabbath Day to keep it holy. Six days you shall labour and do all your work: But the seventh day is the Sabbath of YAHVAH your Eternal: in it you shall not do any work, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, your maidservant, nor your manservant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger that is within your gate. For in six days YAHVAH made Heaven and Earth the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore YAHVAH blessed the Sabbath Day and hallowed it.

According to these verses we are not too work on the Sabbath

Back in Jn 19:31 it says the bodies should not remain on the Stake on the Sabbath Day.
What Sabbath Day. This was the preparation day for the Passover, not the weekly Sabbath.

We have so far seen that no work is done on the Sabbath. Jonah was in the belly of the whale 3 days and nights. A type of the Messiah.

Let us learn what happened during death, and we will take it from Mt 27:45-46 Now from the sixth hour (noon() there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour (3 p.m.) And about the ninth hour Yahvahosha cried with a loud voice, saying Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My Yahvah, My Yahvah, why have You forsaken me.

We see plainly here that the sun went dark at noon, and He gave up His Spirit at 3 p.m. or he died then.
We remember the Mt 12 Scriptures that says Jonah a type of Messiah was in the Whale (like grave) 3 complete days and complete nights.

Since there is no work done the Sabbath, that means IF Friday evening was the Passover, which would have been the beginning of the Sabbath, they would have been cooking and eating the Lamb etc on a day that they were told to do no work in.

From Da 9:27 we found out in the middle of the week all this would be stopped.
So Yahvahosha was killed on Wed. buried on Wed. and three days and nights later, not parts of, would have Him rise from the grave on the Sabbath about 3 p.m. 72 hours later

When we read Mt 28:1, Mk 16:1;  Lk 24:1; Jn 20:1 all tell us the same thing, just worded different, that when they came to see the Messiah, He was risen.
So the Messiah, rose on the Sabbath.

How can we have Friday to Sunday as three days and three night. Because IF he did die on Friday He could not have risen until Monday night.

He could not have risen in the Morning in the first place, because He did not die in the morning.

So good Friday and a Sunday Resurrection are WRONG.

He died on Wed. 3p.m. and rose Sabbath (Sat ) about 3 p.m. 72 hours later. late afternoon.

So doing all this that you do every year to say He died on Friday and rose on Sunday is Tradition and is not supported by Scripture. Bro. Doc

A Judge Who Knows Our Lives

    By Paul Chappell

“Many seek the ruler’s favour; but every man’s judgment cometh from the LORD.”

    Proverbs 29:26

The fifth Caliph of the ancient Arab Abbasid Empire in what is now Iraq was Harun Al-Rashid. This fabled ruler was noted throughout the world for his careful and wise dispensing of justice to his subjects. As in the days of Solomon in Israel, representatives of rulers from many lands came to his court to hear him speak. One of Al-Rashid’s techniques (which later made its way into many of the stories in 1001 Arabian Nights) was to dress as a commoner and go through the city. When he noticed someone behaving especially well or especially badly, he would note their conduct and then have them brought to the palace to face him on the throne to either be rewarded or punished as they deserved. Al-Rashid was able to judge well because he understood the daily lives of his subjects since he spent time living as they did.

In Jesus we have not just a righteous and perfect Judge, but one who also understands our lives. “For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin” (Hebrews 4:15). Jesus experienced the temptations we face and overcame them. The righteous and sinless life of Christ, and His death and resurrection allows Him to be both “just, and the justifier of him which believeth” (Romans 3:26).

The justice of God demands that the penalty for sin be paid. The love and mercy of God sent Jesus Christ to be the payment for that debt. Every person will one day face a Judge with perfect understanding of his or her life—those who have trusted Him for the only acceptable sacrifice for sin face no terror, but those who have not will have any excuse.

    Today’s Proverbs Precept:
We can face the future without fear because the Judge has already paid the penalty for our sins.

    Judges 7

    CHAPTER 7

1 Then Jerubbaal, who is Gideon, and all the people that were with him, rose up early, and pitched beside the well of Harod: so that the host of the Midianites were on the north side of them, by the hill of Moreh, in the valley. 2 And the LORD said unto Gideon, The people that are with thee are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand hath saved me. 3 Now therefore go to, proclaim in the ears of the people, saying, Whosoever is fearful and afraid, let him return and depart early from mount Gilead. And there returned of the people twenty and two thousand; and there remained ten thousand. 4 And the LORD said unto Gideon, The people are yet too many; bring them down unto the water, and I will try them for thee there: and it shall be, that of whom I say unto thee, This shall go with thee, the same shall go with thee; and of whomsoever I say unto thee, This shall not go with thee, the same shall not go. 5 So he brought down the people unto the water: and the LORD said unto Gideon, Every one that lappeth of the water with his tongue, as a dog lappeth, him shalt thou set by himself; likewise every one that boweth down upon his knees to drink. 6 And the number of them that lapped, putting their hand to their mouth, were three hundred men: but all the rest of the people bowed down upon their knees to drink water. 7 And the LORD said unto Gideon, By the three hundred men that lapped will I save you, and deliver the Midianites into thine hand: and let all the other people go every man unto his place. 8 So the people took victuals in their hand, and their trumpets: and he sent all the rest of Israel every man unto his tent, and retained those three hundred men: and the host of Midian was beneath him in the valley.

9 And it came to pass the same night, that the LORD said unto him, Arise, get thee down unto the host; for I have delivered it into thine hand. 10 But if thou fear to go down, go thou with Phurah thy servant down to the host: 11 And thou shalt hear what they say; and afterward shall thine hands be strengthened to go down unto the host. Then went he down with Phurah his servant unto the outside of the armed men that were in the host. 12 And the Midianites and the Amalekites and all the children of the east lay along in the valley like grasshoppers for multitude; and their camels were without number, as the sand by the sea side for multitude. 13 And when Gideon was come, behold, there was a man that told a dream unto his fellow, and said, Behold, I dreamed a dream, and, lo, a cake of barley bread tumbled into the host of Midian, and came unto a tent, and smote it that it fell, and overturned it, that the tent lay along. 14 And his fellow answered and said, This is nothing else save the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel: for into his hand hath God delivered Midian, and all the host. 15 And it was so, when Gideon heard the telling of the dream, and the interpretation thereof, that he worshipped, and returned into the host of Israel, and said, Arise; for the LORD hath delivered into your hand the host of Midian.

16 And he divided the three hundred men into three companies, and he put a trumpet in every man’s hand, with empty pitchers, and lamps within the pitchers. 17 And he said unto them, Look on me, and do likewise: and, behold, when I come to the outside of the camp, it shall be that, as I do, so shall ye do. 18 When I blow with a trumpet, I and all that are with me, then blow ye the trumpets also on every side of all the camp, and say, The sword of the LORD, and of Gideon. 19 So Gideon, and the hundred men that were with him, came unto the outside of the camp in the beginning of the middle watch; and they had but newly set the watch: and they blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers that were in their hands. 20 And the three companies blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers, and held the lamps in their left hands, and the trumpets in their right hands to blow withal: and they cried, The sword of the LORD, and of Gideon. 21 And they stood every man in his place round about the camp: and all the host ran, and cried, and fled. 22 And the three hundred blew the trumpets, and the LORD set every man’s sword against his fellow, even throughout all the host: and the host fled to Bethshittah in Zererath, and to the border of Abelmeholah, unto Tabbath.

23 And the men of Israel gathered themselves together out of Naphtali, and out of Asher, and out of all Manasseh, and pursued after the Midianites. 24 And Gideon sent messengers throughout all mount Ephraim, saying, Come down against the Midianites, and take before them the waters unto Bethbarah and Jordan. Then all the men of Ephraim gathered themselves together, and took the waters unto Bethbarah and Jordan. 25 And they took two princes of the Midianites, Oreb and Zeeb; and they slew Oreb upon the rock Oreb, and Zeeb they slew at the winepress of Zeeb, and pursued Midian, and brought the heads of Oreb and Zeeb to Gideon on the other side Jordan.

    CHAPTER 8

1 And the men of Ephraim said unto him, Why hast thou served us thus, that thou calledst us not, when thou wentest to fight with the Midianites? And they did chide with him sharply. 2 And he said unto them, What have I done now in comparison of you? Is not the gleaning of the grapes of Ephraim better than the vintage of Abiezer? 3 God hath delivered into your hands the princes of Midian, Oreb and Zeeb: and what was I able to do in comparison of you? Then their anger was abated toward him, when he had said that.

4 And Gideon came to Jordan, and passed over, he, and the three hundred men that were with him, faint, yet pursuing them. 5 And he said unto the men of Succoth, Give, I pray you, loaves of bread unto the people that follow me; for they be faint, and I am pursuing after Zebah and Zalmunna, kings of Midian. 6 And the princes of Succoth said, Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna now in thine hand, that we should give bread unto thine army? 7 And Gideon said, Therefore when the LORD hath delivered Zebah and Zalmunna into mine hand, then I will tear your flesh with the thorns of the wilderness and with briers. 8 And he went up thence to Penuel, and spake unto them likewise: and the men of Penuel answered him as the men of Succoth had answered him. 9 And he spake also unto the men of Penuel, saying, When I come again in peace, I will break down this tower. 10 Now Zebah and Zalmunna were in Karkor, and their hosts with them, about fifteen thousand men, all that were left of all the hosts of the children of the east: for there fell an hundred and twenty thousand men that drew sword. 11 And Gideon went up by the way of them that dwelt in tents on the east of Nobah and Jogbehah, and smote the host: for the host was secure. 12 And when Zebah and Zalmunna fled, he pursued after them, and took the two kings of Midian, Zebah and Zalmunna, and discomfited all the host. 13 And Gideon the son of Joash returned from battle before the sun was up, 14 And caught a young man of the men of Succoth, and enquired of him: and he described unto him the princes of Succoth, and the elders thereof, even threescore and seventeen men. 15 And he came unto the men of Succoth, and said, Behold Zebah and Zalmunna, with whom ye did upbraid me, saying, Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna now in thine hand, that we should give bread unto thy men that are weary? 16 And he took the elders of the city, and thorns of the wilderness and briers, and with them he taught the men of Succoth. 17 And he beat down the tower of Penuel, and slew the men of the city.

18 Then said he unto Zebah and Zalmunna, What manner of men were they whom ye slew at Tabor? And they answered, As thou art, so were they; each one resembled the children of a king. 19 And he said, They were my brethren, even the sons of my mother: as the LORD liveth, if ye had saved them alive, I would not slay you. 20 And he said unto Jether his firstborn, Up, and slay them. But the youth drew not his sword: for he feared, because he was yet a youth. 21 Then Zebah and Zalmunna said, Rise thou, and fall upon us: for as the man is, so is his strength. And Gideon arose, and slew Zebah and Zalmunna, and took away the ornaments that were on their camels’ necks.

22 Then the men of Israel said unto Gideon, Rule thou over us, both thou, and thy son, and thy son’s son also: for thou hast delivered us from the hand of Midian. 23 And Gideon said unto them, I will not rule over you, neither shall my son rule over you: the LORD shall rule over you. 24 And Gideon said unto them, I would desire a request of you, that ye would give me every man the earrings of his prey. (For they had golden earrings, because they were Ishmaelites.) 25 And they answered, We will willingly give them. And they spread a garment, and did cast therein every man the earrings of his prey. 26 And the weight of the golden earrings that he requested was a thousand and seven hundred shekels of gold; beside ornaments, and collars, and purple raiment that was on the kings of Midian, and beside the chains that were about their camels’ necks. 27 And Gideon made an ephod thereof, and put it in his city, even in Ophrah: and all Israel went thither a whoring after it: which thing became a snare unto Gideon, and to his house. 28 Thus was Midian subdued before the children of Israel, so that they lifted up their heads no more. And the country was in quietness forty years in the days of Gideon.

29 And Jerubbaal the son of Joash went and dwelt in his own house. 30 And Gideon had threescore and ten sons of his body begotten: for he had many wives. 31 And his concubine that was in Shechem, she also bare him a son, whose name he called Abimelech. 32 And Gideon the son of Joash died in a good old age, and was buried in the sepulchre of Joash his father, in Ophrah of the Abiezrites. 33 And it came to pass, as soon as Gideon was dead, that the children of Israel turned again, and went a whoring after Baalim, and made Baalberith their god. 34 And the children of Israel remembered not the LORD their God, who had delivered them out of the hands of all their enemies on every side: 35 Neither shewed they kindness to the house of Jerubbaal, namely, Gideon, according to all the goodness which he had shewed unto Israel.

    New Testament Reading
    Luke 5:1

1 And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret, 2 And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets. 3 And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon’s, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship. 4 Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. 5 And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net. 6 And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake. 7 And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink. 8 When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord. 9 For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken: 10 And so was also James, and John, the sons of Zebedee, which were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men. 11 And when they had brought their ships to land, they forsook all, and followed him.

12 And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. 13 And he put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will: be thou clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him. 14 And he charged him to tell no man: but go, and shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing, according as Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them. 15 But so much the more went there a fame abroad of him: and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities. 16 And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed.

    Proverb of the Day
    Proverbs 29

1 He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy. 2 When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn. 3 Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father: but he that keepeth company with harlots spendeth his substance. 4 The king by judgment establisheth the land: but he that receiveth gifts overthroweth it. 5 A man that flattereth his neighbour spreadeth a net for his feet. 6 In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare: but the righteous doth sing and rejoice. 7 The righteous considereth the cause of the poor: but the wicked regardeth not to know it. 8 Scornful men bring a city into a snare: but wise men turn away wrath. 9 If a wise man contendeth with a foolish man, whether he rage or laugh, there is no rest. 10 The bloodthirsty hate the upright: but the just seek his soul. 11 A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards. 12 If a ruler hearken to lies, all his servants are wicked. 13 The poor and the deceitful man meet together: the LORD lighteneth both their eyes. 14 The king that faithfully judgeth the poor, his throne shall be established for ever. 15 The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame. 16 When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increaseth: but the righteous shall see their fall. 17 Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul. 18 Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he. 19 A servant will not be corrected by words: for though he understand he will not answer. 20 Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him. 21 He that delicately bringeth up his servant from a child shall have him become his son at the length. 22 An angry man stirreth up strife, and a furious man aboundeth in transgression. 23 A man’s pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit. 24 Whoso is partner with a thief hateth his own soul: he heareth cursing, and bewrayeth it not. 25 The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe. 26 Many seek the ruler’s favour; but every man’s judgment cometh from the LORD. 27 An unjust man is an abomination to the just: and he that is upright in the way is abomination to the wicked.

  • T&M THE SUPERNATURAL INTERCESSORY MINISTRY OF THE HOLY GHOST

Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Ro 8:26

To whom do you go for help when you feel trapped, concerned, or pinned against the wall because of a situation you’ve fallen into? In moments like that, do you feel overwhelmed with a sense of desperation, or do you know where to turn for help?

I want to speak to you about the supernatural ministry of the Holy Ghost. But today I’m not talking about prayer when I use the phrase “intercessory ministry.” I am talking about a very special unique work of the Holy Ghost that is available to help you every day–especially in times when you’re feeling backed into a corner y situations in life.

Ro 8:26 says, “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.” I would like to draw your attention to the word “intercession” in the middle of this verse. It is the Greek word huprentugchano,an old word that does not appear to exist outside early Religious literature. It is the picture of one who comes upon someone who has fallen into some kind of quandary. Upon discovering the trapped person’s dilemma, be swiftly wings into action to rescue and deliver the one who is in trouble. Therefore, the word huprentugchano conveys the idea of a rescue operation.

Paul uses this word here to tell us about a special work of divine intercession–a special ministry performed by the Holy Ghost Himself when He sees that you are at a lost for words or that you are trapped in a situation and don’t know how to get out. Suddenly and supernaturally, the Holy Ghost falls into that place with you. Now you are no longer facing the challenge by yourself, for the Holy Ghost has stepped into your dilemma and is initiating a rescue to get you out of that mess!

The Holy Ghost feels everything you feel. He understands the complete inadequacy you are experiencing. He knows about every battle you are facing. He willingly joins in your circumstances, sharing your emotions and frustrations. Then He begins to put a supernatural plan of rescue into operation to get you out of your mess!

The middle phrase of Ro 8:26 conveys this idea: “…The Spirit itself falls into our difficulty with us, initiating a supernatural rescue operation to get us out of the mess we’ve fallen into…”

So the next time you get into trouble, there’s no need for you to sweat it out by yourself. The Holy Ghost is standing by just waiting for you to ask for His assistance. Helping you is a part of His ministry, so never hesitate to say, “Holy Ghost, help me!” This is what the intercessory ministry of the Holy Ghost is all about!

What challenges are you facing today? What problems seem bigger than your ability to handle by yourself?

Come to grips with your need for supernatural assistance, and open your heart to the Holy Ghost’s help today. As you do, you will liberate Him to release His mighty power in you. An answer to every problem is just around the corner as you allow the Holy Ghost to work His supernatural ministry of intercession in your life!

PRAYER: YAHVAH, I THANK YOU THAT THE HOLY GHOST JOINS ME IN THE CHALLENGES I AM FACING IN MY LIFE TODAY. YOU SENT HIM TO BE MY HELPER, MY GUIDE, MY TEACHER, AND MY INTERCESSOR–THE ONE WHO MEETS MY PROBLEMS HEAD ON AND HELPS ME TO OVERCOME THEM! THANK YOU FOR BEING THERE WHEN I NEED YOU. THIS I PRAY IN YAHVAHOSHA’S GREAT NAME HALLELUYAH!

  • T&M ARE YOU AN ‘AMATEUR’ OR A PROFESSIONAL

And if a man also strives for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully. 2 Tim 2:5

It is a fact that hardships nearly always reveal level of a person’s commitment to Yahvahosha Messiah. When everything is going well and there are no challenges, it’s easy to serve Yahvah. But when things get tough and people are faced with hard decisions, this is a golden moment when the real level of their commitment revealed–when they have to decide, WILL I REMAIN FAITHFUL IN THE HARD TIMES? You can be certain that if a flaw exists in their commitment to Yahvahosha, difficult episodes in life will bring that defect to the surface.

In the former Soviet Union, I heard many people who paid a very high price for their faith in Yahvahosha Messiah. The rulers of that past time sent many believers to prison; deported others to slave labor camps; and incarcerated still others in psychiatric hospitals, where they were treated as mental patients, because they believed in Yahvah. The Soviet leadership found all sorts of ways to disdain, humiliate and mock believers for being different. It was therefore a very serious matter to believe in Yahvahosha Messiah, requiring a life commitment.

In 2 Tim many people were defecting from the faith because hard times had come. Staying faithful to Yahvahosha meant they might face persecution, beatings, imprisonment, or even death. Before the persecution commenced, the Assembly at Ephesus was growing rapidly. But now it was declining as the newly arrived adversities exposed the genuine level of people’s faith.

In the midst of these trying times, Paul wrote to Timothy about the attitude that is essential to survive difficult times. Although Paul was making a statement, he was also asking a  very pointed question. He said, “And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.”

The word “strive” is the Greek word athlesis, which always describes athletic activities or sporting events. It also notably depicted professional athletes. As time passed, it expressed the idea of any event in life that demands one’s labor or sweat and tears. It indicated exertion, efforts, and commitment. It could refer to either physical exertion or mental exertion.

Just as in our world today. there were both amateur and professional athletes at the time Paul wrote this letter. If someone was an amateur, he wasn’t a serious contender and would not participate in the harshest competitions. However, if he was a professional athlete, he was committed that he was ready to compete no matter how intense the opposition or how difficult the circumstance. This is the idea Paul is conveying when he used the word athlesis in this verse.

    Paul was in essence asking

Are you an amateur who serves Yahvah just for fun?

Have you committed yourself to go all the way, regardless of the fight that ensues?

Are you serving Yahvah only because it’s popular and enjoyable for the moment?

Are you a professional that is willing to pay any price, undergo any kind of hardship, bear up under any pressure, and endure it all until you come out the winner?

    Are you really committed?

WHAT KIND OF BELIEVER ARE YOU TODAY, FRIEND? ARE YOU A PROFESSIONAL, OR ARE YOU AN AMATEUR?

PRAYER: I PRAY THAT YOU SEE ME AS A PROFESSIONAL, AND ONE WHOM IS GOING ABOUT TELLING OTHERS ABOUT YOU AND THAT YOU CAN SAVE THEM. I PRAY THAT I AM NOT AN AMATEUR AND NOT A GOOD WITNESS FOR YOU, NOR DOING THINGS AS YOU WOULD WANT ME TO DO. I PRAY THAT MY LIFE WILL BE PLEASING TO YOU AND THAT YOU WILL BE PLEASED WITH WHAT I DO FOR YOU. THIS I PRAY IN THE NAME OF YAHVAHOSHA MESSIAH. HALLELUYAH! Bro. Doc
