  • HOW CHINA PLANS TO WIPE OUT HOUSE CHURCHES

How China Plans to Wipe Out House Churches

China's Christians felt a noticeable rise in persecution in 2012 as the Communist government began the first of a three-phase plan to eradicate unregistered house churches, a new report says.

Incidents of persecution of Christians rose by about 42 percent last year compared with 2011, according to the report by human rights group China Aid. Many of these incidents involved groups of Christians. In total, the number of individual persecuted Christians rose by roughly 14 percent and total individual detentions increased by nearly 12 percent. China Aid said overall total persecution in six categories was about 13 percent worse than in 2011—though China Aid termed its statistics just "the tip of the iceberg."

At least 132 incidents of persecution affecting 4,919 Christians—442 of whom were clergy—were reported in the country last year, according to China Aid's annual report. The Texas-based group tracked detention of at least 1,441 Christians, the sentencing of nine of them, and the abuse (verbal, mental and physical, including beatings and torture) of 37 Christians.

N.C. High School Wrestler Penalized for Silent Prayer Before Match

There appears to be a new rule in North Carolina's high school wrestling rule book: Prayer is prohibited. Nicholas Fant, a junior at North Carolina's Wake Forest-Rolesville High School and a 220-pound competitor in the February 12 state wrestling tournament, found that out the hard way. After dropping to a knee for a customary two-second prayer prior to his first round match, Fant was given a warning for stalling, which cost him a point in the contest. The varsity wrestler, who had not been penalized in the past for such prayers, ultimately lost to his opponent by a score of 3-0.

The penalty angered Fant's coach, Sam Hershey, who said that the one-point deficit starting out forced Fant to change his strategy for the match. Hershey said that while he would not comment on the referee's decision, he would seek a clarification to determine if penalizing a wrestler for a two-second silent prayer comported with the spirit of the rule against stalling.

In its rulebook the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) explains that a referee may call a penalty for stalling “when either wrestler delays the match. This includes straggling back from out of bounds, unnecessarily changing or adjusting equipment, or delay in assuming the starting position on the mat.” While in 2008 the NFHS issued 27 pages of guidelines for how a ref is to call for stalling, nowhere is prayer mentioned

    The Destructiveness of Pride

    By Paul Chappell

      Friday, Feb 22, 2013

"By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life."

    Proverbs 22:4

The legendary golfer Arnold Palmer described how pride once brought him low on the very brink of great success: “It was the final hole of the 1961 Masters tournament, and I had a one-stroke lead and had just hit a very satisfying tee shot. I felt I was in pretty good shape. As I approached my ball, I saw an old friend standing at the edge of the gallery. He motioned me over, stuck out his hand and said, ‘Congratulations.’ I took his hand and shook it, but as soon as I did, I knew I had lost my focus. On my next two shots, I hit the ball into a sand trap, then put it over the edge of the green. I missed a putt and lost the Masters. You don't forget a mistake like that; you just learn from it and become determined that you will never do that again. I haven't in the 30 years since.”

That brief moment of pride—when he accepted congratulations for a victory not yet won—took a certain victory away from Palmer. His story holds a powerful lesson for us. There may be no human attitude more destructive than pride. Though we are tempted to take the credit for our efforts and accomplishments, every good thing that we do is the result of what God has given us, and we have no basis for taking credit for ourselves.

Pride places us on a dangerous path, and it harms our relationships with God as well. James 4:6 says, “God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.” When we humbly acknowledge Him as the source of all of the good things we have and do, we continue to receive His grace to help us deal with the challenges and temptations of life.

    Today’s Proverbs Precept:
Humble yourself before the Lord, and you will receive not only great blessings, but great protection as well.

    Old Testament Reading
    Numbers 3

    CHAPTER 3

1 These also are the generations of Aaron and Moses in the day that the LORD spake with Moses in mount Sinai. 2 And these are the names of the sons of Aaron; Nadab the firstborn, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar. 3 These are the names of the sons of Aaron, the priests which were anointed, whom he consecrated to minister in the priest's office. 4 And Nadab and Abihu died before the LORD, when they offered strange fire before the LORD, in the wilderness of Sinai, and they had no children: and Eleazar and Ithamar ministered in the priest's office in the sight of Aaron their father. 5 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 6 Bring the tribe of Levi near, and present them before Aaron the priest, that they may minister unto him. 7 And they shall keep his charge, and the charge of the whole congregation before the tabernacle of the congregation, to do the service of the tabernacle. 8 And they shall keep all the instruments of the tabernacle of the congregation, and the charge of the children of Israel, to do the service of the tabernacle. 9 And thou shalt give the Levites unto Aaron and to his sons: they are wholly given unto him out of the children of Israel. 10 And thou shalt appoint Aaron and his sons, and they shall wait on their priest's office: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death. 11 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 12 And I, behold, I have taken the Levites from among the children of Israel instead of all the firstborn that openeth the matrix among the children of Israel: therefore the Levites shall be mine; 13 Because all the firstborn are mine; for on the day that I smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt I hallowed unto me all the firstborn in Israel, both man and beast: mine shall they be: I am the LORD.

14 And the LORD spake unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, saying, 15 Number the children of Levi after the house of their fathers, by their families: every male from a month old and upward shalt thou number them. 16 And Moses numbered them according to the word of the LORD, as he was commanded. 17 And these were the sons of Levi by their names; Gershon, and Kohath, and Merari. 18 And these are the names of the sons of Gershon by their families; Libni, and Shimei. 19 And the sons of Kohath by their families; Amram, and Izehar, Hebron, and Uzziel. 20 And the sons of Merari by their families; Mahli, and Mushi. These are the families of the Levites according to the house of their fathers. 21 Of Gershon was the family of the Libnites, and the family of the Shimites: these are the families of the Gershonites. 22 Those that were numbered of them, according to the number of all the males, from a month old and upward, even those that were numbered of them were seven thousand and five hundred. 23 The families of the Gershonites shall pitch behind the tabernacle westward. 24 And the chief of the house of the father of the Gershonites shall be Eliasaph the son of Lael. 25 And the charge of the sons of Gershon in the tabernacle of the congregation shall be the tabernacle, and the tent, the covering thereof, and the hanging for the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, 26 And the hangings of the court, and the curtain for the door of the court, which is by the tabernacle, and by the altar round about, and the cords of it for all the service thereof. 27 And of Kohath was the family of the Amramites, and the family of the Izeharites, and the family of the Hebronites, and the family of the Uzzielites: these are the families of the Kohathites. 28 In the number of all the males, from a month old and upward, were eight thousand and six hundred, keeping the charge of the sanctuary. 29 The families of the sons of Kohath shall pitch on the side of the tabernacle southward. 30 And the chief of the house of the father of the families of the Kohathites shall be Elizaphan the son of Uzziel. 31 And their charge shall be the ark, and the table, and the candlestick, and the altars, and the vessels of the sanctuary wherewith they minister, and the hanging, and all the service thereof. 32 And Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest shall be chief over the chief of the Levites, and have the oversight of them that keep the charge of the sanctuary. 33 Of Merari was the family of the Mahlites, and the family of the Mushites: these are the families of Merari. 34 And those that were numbered of them, according to the number of all the males, from a month old and upward, were six thousand and two hundred. 35 And the chief of the house of the father of the families of Merari was Zuriel the son of Abihail: these shall pitch on the side of the tabernacle northward. 36 And under the custody and charge of the sons of Merari shall be the boards of the tabernacle, and the bars thereof, and the pillars thereof, and the sockets thereof, and all the vessels thereof, and all that serveth thereto, 37 And the pillars of the court round about, and their sockets, and their pins, and their cords. 38 But those that encamp before the tabernacle toward the east, even before the tabernacle of the congregation eastward, shall be Moses, and Aaron and his sons, keeping the charge of the sanctuary for the charge of the children of Israel; and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death. 39 All that were numbered of the Levites, which Moses and Aaron numbered at the commandment of the LORD, throughout their families, all the males from a month old and upward, were twenty and two thousand.

40 And the LORD said unto Moses, Number all the firstborn of the males of the children of Israel from a month old and upward, and take the number of their names. 41 And thou shalt take the Levites for me (I am the LORD) instead of all the firstborn among the children of Israel; and the cattle of the Levites instead of all the firstlings among the cattle of the children of Israel. 42 And Moses numbered, as the LORD commanded him, all the firstborn among the children of Israel. 43 And all the firstborn males by the number of names, from a month old and upward, of those that were numbered of them, were twenty and two thousand two hundred and threescore and thirteen. 44 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 45 Take the Levites instead of all the firstborn among the children of Israel, and the cattle of the Levites instead of their cattle; and the Levites shall be mine: I am the LORD. 46 And for those that are to be redeemed of the two hundred and threescore and thirteen of the firstborn of the children of Israel, which are more than the Levites; 47 Thou shalt even take five shekels apiece by the poll, after the shekel of the sanctuary shalt thou take them: (the shekel is twenty gerahs:) 48 And thou shalt give the money, wherewith the odd number of them is to be redeemed, unto Aaron and to his sons. 49 And Moses took the redemption money of them that were over and above them that were redeemed by the Levites: 50 Of the firstborn of the children of Israel took he the money; a thousand three hundred and threescore and five shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary: 51 And Moses gave the money of them that were redeemed unto Aaron and to his sons, according to the word of the LORD, as the LORD commanded Moses.

    CHAPTER 4

1 And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, 2 Take the sum of the sons of Kohath from among the sons of Levi, after their families, by the house of their fathers, 3 From thirty years old and upward even until fifty years old, all that enter into the host, to do the work in the tabernacle of the congregation. 4 This shall be the service of the sons of Kohath in the tabernacle of the congregation, about the most holy things: 5 And when the camp setteth forward, Aaron shall come, and his sons, and they shall take down the covering vail, and cover the ark of testimony with it: 6 And shall put thereon the covering of badgers' skins, and shall spread over it a cloth wholly of blue, and shall put in the staves thereof. 7 And upon the table of shewbread they shall spread a cloth of blue, and put thereon the dishes, and the spoons, and the bowls, and covers to cover withal: and the continual bread shall be thereon: 8 And they shall spread upon them a cloth of scarlet, and cover the same with a covering of badgers' skins, and shall put in the staves thereof. 9 And they shall take a cloth of blue, and cover the candlestick of the light, and his lamps, and his tongs, and his snuffdishes, and all the oil vessels thereof, wherewith they minister unto it: 10 And they shall put it and all the vessels thereof within a covering of badgers' skins, and shall put it upon a bar. 11 And upon the golden altar they shall spread a cloth of blue, and cover it with a covering of badgers' skins, and shall put to the staves thereof: 12 And they shall take all the instruments of ministry, wherewith they minister in the sanctuary, and put them in a cloth of blue, and cover them with a covering of badgers' skins, and shall put them on a bar: 13 And they shall take away the ashes from the altar, and spread a purple cloth thereon: 14 And they shall put upon it all the vessels thereof, wherewith they minister about it, even the censers, the fleshhooks, and the shovels, and the basons, all the vessels of the altar; and they shall spread upon it a covering of badgers' skins, and put to the staves of it. 15 And when Aaron and his sons have made an end of covering the sanctuary, and all the vessels of the sanctuary, as the camp is to set forward; after that, the sons of Kohath shall come to bear it: but they shall not touch any holy thing, lest they die. These things are the burden of the sons of Kohath in the tabernacle of the congregation. 16 And to the office of Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest pertaineth the oil for the light, and the sweet incense, and the daily meat offering, and the anointing oil, and the oversight of all the tabernacle, and of all that therein is, in the sanctuary, and in the vessels thereof. 17 And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, 18 Cut ye not off the tribe of the families of the Kohathites from among the Levites: 19 But thus do unto them, that they may live, and not die, when they approach unto the most holy things: Aaron and his sons shall go in, and appoint them every one to his service and to his burden: 20 But they shall not go in to see when the holy things are covered, lest they die.

21 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 22 Take also the sum of the sons of Gershon, throughout the houses of their fathers, by their families; 23 From thirty years old and upward until fifty years old shalt thou number them; all that enter in to perform the service, to do the work in the tabernacle of the congregation. 24 This is the service of the families of the Gershonites, to serve, and for burdens: 25 And they shall bear the curtains of the tabernacle, and the tabernacle of the congregation, his covering, and the covering of the badgers' skins that is above upon it, and the hanging for the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, 26 And the hangings of the court, and the hanging for the door of the gate of the court, which is by the tabernacle and by the altar round about, and their cords, and all the instruments of their service, and all that is made for them: so shall they serve. 27 At the appointment of Aaron and his sons shall be all the service of the sons of the Gershonites, in all their burdens, and in all their service: and ye shall appoint unto them in charge all their burdens. 28 This is the service of the families of the sons of Gershon in the tabernacle of the congregation: and their charge shall be under the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest. 29 As for the sons of Merari, thou shalt number them after their families, by the house of their fathers; 30 From thirty years old and upward even unto fifty years old shalt thou number them, every one that entereth into the service, to do the work of the tabernacle of the congregation. 31 And this is the charge of their burden, according to all their service in the tabernacle of the congregation; the boards of the tabernacle, and the bars thereof, and the pillars thereof, and sockets thereof, 32 And the pillars of the court round about, and their sockets, and their pins, and their cords, with all their instruments, and with all their service: and by name ye shall reckon the instruments of the charge of their burden. 33 This is the service of the families of the sons of Merari, according to all their service, in the tabernacle of the congregation, under the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest.

34 And Moses and Aaron and the chief of the congregation numbered the sons of the Kohathites after their families, and after the house of their fathers, 35 From thirty years old and upward even unto fifty years old, every one that entereth into the service, for the work in the tabernacle of the congregation: 36 And those that were numbered of them by their families were two thousand seven hundred and fifty. 37 These were they that were numbered of the families of the Kohathites, all that might do service in the tabernacle of the congregation, which Moses and Aaron did number according to the commandment of the LORD by the hand of Moses. 38 And those that were numbered of the sons of Gershon, throughout their families, and by the house of their fathers, 39 From thirty years old and upward even unto fifty years old, every one that entereth into the service, for the work in the tabernacle of the congregation, 40 Even those that were numbered of them, throughout their families, by the house of their fathers, were two thousand and six hundred and thirty. 41 These are they that were numbered of the families of the sons of Gershon, of all that might do service in the tabernacle of the congregation, whom Moses and Aaron did number according to the commandment of the LORD. 42 And those that were numbered of the families of the sons of Merari, throughout their families, by the house of their fathers, 43 From thirty years old and upward even unto fifty years old, every one that entereth into the service, for the work in the tabernacle of the congregation, 44 Even those that were numbered of them after their families, were three thousand and two hundred. 45 These be those that were numbered of the families of the sons of Merari, whom Moses and Aaron numbered according to the word of the LORD by the hand of Moses. 46 All those that were numbered of the Levites, whom Moses and Aaron and the chief of Israel numbered, after their families, and after the house of their fathers, 47 From thirty years old and upward even unto fifty years old, every one that came to do the service of the ministry, and the service of the burden in the tabernacle of the congregation, 48 Even those that were numbered of them, were eight thousand and five hundred and fourscore. 49 According to the commandment of the LORD they were numbered by the hand of Moses, every one according to his service, and according to his burden: thus were they numbered of him, as the LORD commanded Moses.

    New Testament Reading
    Mark 3:20

20 And the multitude cometh together again, so that they could not so much as eat bread. 21 And when his friends heard of it, they went out to lay hold on him: for they said, He is beside himself.

22 And the scribes which came down from Jerusalem said, He hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of the devils casteth he out devils. 23 And he called them unto him, and said unto them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan? 24 And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25 And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand. 26 And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end. 27 No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house. 28 Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme: 29 But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation: 30 Because they said, He hath an unclean spirit.

31 There came then his brethren and his mother, and, standing without, sent unto him, calling him. 32 And the multitude sat about him, and they said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren without seek for thee. 33 And he answered them, saying, Who is my mother, or my brethren? 34 And he looked round about on them which sat about him, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren! 35 For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.

    Proverb of the Day
    Proverbs 22

1 A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold. 2 The rich and poor meet together: the LORD is the maker of them all. 3 A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished. 4 By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life. 5 Thorns and snares are in the way of the froward: he that doth keep his soul shall be far from them. 6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. 7 The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender. 8 He that soweth iniquity shall reap vanity: and the rod of his anger shall fail. 9 He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his bread to the poor. 10 Cast out the scorner, and contention shall go out; yea, strife and reproach shall cease. 11 He that loveth pureness of heart, for the grace of his lips the king shall be his friend. 12 The eyes of the LORD preserve knowledge, and he overthroweth the words of the transgressor. 13 The slothful man saith, There is a lion without, I shall be slain in the streets. 14 The mouth of strange women is a deep pit: he that is abhorred of the LORD shall fall therein. 15 Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him. 16 He that oppresseth the poor to increase his riches, and he that giveth to the rich, shall surely come to want. 17 Bow down thine ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply thine heart unto my knowledge. 18 For it is a pleasant thing if thou keep them within thee; they shall withal be fitted in thy lips. 19 That thy trust may be in the LORD, I have made known to thee this day, even to thee. 20 Have not I written to thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge, 21 That I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth; that thou mightest answer the words of truth to them that send unto thee? 22 Rob not the poor, because he is poor: neither oppress the afflicted in the gate: 23 For the LORD will plead their cause, and spoil the soul of those that spoiled them. 24 Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go: 25 Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul. 26 Be not thou one of them that strike hands, or of them that are sureties for debts. 27 If thou hast nothing to pay, why should he take away thy bed from under thee? 28 Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set. 29 Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.

  • T&M YOU HAVE A TWO-EDGED SWORD!

For the word of Yahvah is quick, and power, and sharper than any two-edged sword...Heb 4:12

What is the significance of the "two-edged sword" referred to in Heb 4:12? If you start looking, you'll find out this phrase regarding a "two-edge sword" appears all over the Restored Covenant, so it must be pretty important.

For instance, when the Apostle John received his vision of Yahvahosha on the Isle of Patmos, he said, "And he had in his right hand seven stars: and in his mouth wnt a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in strength" (Rev 1:6). Notice that this "gtwo-edged sword" came out of Yahvahosha's mouth! Why would Yahvahosha have a sword in  His mouth? Shouldn 't the sword have been in His hand?

The phrase "two-edged" is taken from the Greek worsd distomos and ins unquestionably one of the oddest words in the entire Restored Covenant. Why is it so odd? Because it is a compund of the word di, meaning two, and the word (distomos), they describe something that is two-mouthed! Don't you agree that this seems a little strange? So why would the Scripture refer to the Word of Yahvah repeatedly as a "two-edged sword" or , literally, a "two-mouthed sword?"

The Word of Yahvah is like a sword that has two edges, cutting both ways and doing terrible damage to an aggressor. Eph 6:17 calls it "the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of Yahvah" As noted, tghe term "word" is taken from the Greek word rhema, which describe something that is spoken clearly, vividly, in unmistakable terms and undeniable language. In the Restored Covenant, the word rhema carries the idea of a quickened word.

Here's an exampl,e of a rhema or a quickened word: You are praying about a situation, and suddenly a Scripture verse rises up from inside your heart. At that moment, you are consciously aware that Yahvah has given you a verse to stand on and to claim for your situation. You've received a word that came right out of the mouth of Yahvah and dropped into your spirit! That word from Yahvah was so sharp that it cut right through your questions, intellect, and natural logic and lodged deep within your heartd.

After you meditated on that rhema, or that quickened word from Yahvah, it suddenly began to release its power inside you. Soon you couldn't contain it any longer! Everything within you wanted to declare what Yahvah had said to you. You wanted to say it. You wanted to release it out of your mouth! And when you did, those powerful words were sent forth like a mighty blade to drive back the forces of hell that had been marshaled against you, your family, your business, your ministry, yours finances, your relationship, or your body.

First, the word came out of the mouth of Yahvah. Next, it came out of your mouth. When it came out of your mouth, it became a sharp "two-edged"--or literally, a "two-mouthed"--sword. One edge of this sword came into existence when the Word initially proceeded out of Yahvah's mouth. The second edge of this sword was added when the Word of Yahvah proceeded out of YOUR mouth!

The Word of Yahvah remains a one-bladed sword when it comes out of Yahvah's mouth and drops into your heart but is never released from your own mouth by faith. That supernatural word simply lies dormant in your heart, never becoming the two-edged sword Yahvah designed it to be.

But something happens in the realm of the Spirit when you finally rise up and begin to speak forth that word. The moment it comes out of your mouth, a second edge is added to that blade! Nothing is more powerful than a word that  comes from Yahvah's mouth and then from your mouth. You and Yahvah have come into agreement, and that agreement releases His mighty power into the situation at hand!

So begin to willfully take the Word into your spirit by meditating on it and giving it a place of top priority. this is how you take the first necessary step in giving the Word a "second edge" in your life. Then when you are confronted by a challenge from the demonic realm, the Holy Ghost will be able to reach down into the reservoir of Yahvah's Word you have stored up on the inside of you and pulled up the exact Scripture you need for that moment.

As that quickened rhema word from Yahvah begins to fill your heart and  mind and then come out of your mouth, it becomes that "two-mouthed sword" described in the Scriptures. That's when demons start to tremble in terror!

PRAYER: YAHVAH, I KNOW THAT YOUR WORD HAS THE POWER TO DEFEAT EVERY ADVERSARY IN MY LIFE. AS I TAKE IT INTO MY HEART AND GET IT DEEP INTO MY SOUL, I KNOW IT WILL EMPOWER ME TO SPEAK YOUR WORD WITH MIGHTY STRENGTH AND AUTHORITY. FORGIVE ME FOR THE TIMES I HAVE SKIMMED OVER YOUR WORD RATHER THAN PLANTING IT DEEP IN MY HEART. I REALIZE THAT THE ANSWERS I SEEK ARE IN YOUR WORD--AND THAT YOUR WORD, WHEN SPOKEN FROM MY MOUTH, RELEASES AUTHORITY AGAINST THE DEVICES THE DEVIL TRIES TO USE AGAINST ME. SO TODAY, YAHVAH, I MAKE THE DECISION TO PLANT YOUR WORD DEEP IN MY SPIRIT MAN AND THAN TO SPEAK IT AND RELEASE ITS POWER IN MY LIFE!

    MY CONFESSION FOR TODAY

I confess that Yahvah's Word is a mighty and sharp two-edged sword that releases His power when I speak it out of my mouth. I read the Word; I take it deeply into my heart; and then I release its power from my mouth to thwart the enemy's strategies and bring victory into every situation I'm facing today! I declare this by faith in Yahvahosha's Name!

    QUESTIONS FOR YOU TO CONSIDER

  • SERMON PREACHED LAST NIGHT (2-20-12) AT REVIVAL. PEOPLE SEE WHEN WE'RE TRANSFORMED

Sermon: People See When We're Transformed

    Scripture References: Exodus 34:29-35;Isaiah 6:8; Luke 9:28-43; 2 Corinthians 3:12–4:2; Ephesians 2:10; Philippians 4:13

This is Transfiguration Sunday, which celebrates the transfiguration of Yahvahosha on the mountain, but it should also speak to us about our need to also be transformed.

When we are born again and filled with the Holy Ghost, our whole being should also be changed into a loving, compassionate, and peacemaking child of Yahvah that is evident to everyone around us.

In this Righteous transformed state of being, we no longer contribute to the corruption of creation; rather we do everything in our power to end all human caused violence, suffering, and death that we possibly can.

This is exactly what we were told in Ephesians 2:10…

    10. For we are his workmanship, created in Messiah Yahvahosha unto good works, which Yahvah hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

This is what having the infilling of the Holy Holy Ghost does for us, or should do for us, if we allow Him to do so. We are transformed into a new being created in Messiah Yahvahosha, and this difference in our lives should be evident and seen by other people.

In fact, as Paul tells us in Romans 8:19…

    19. For the earnest expectation of the creature waitheth for the manifestation of the sons of Yahvah.

These children of Yahvah are the ones who have been transformed back into the image of Yahvah that we were created to be, and who will free creation from its present corruption.

In Exodus 34:29-35, we are told about the outward change that happened to Moshe every time he spoke with the Eternal, but for us the important thing is that we are inwardly transformed back into the image of Yahvah that He created us to be, and this change should be seen by others almost as much as Moshes’ face shone before the people.

29-30  And it came to pass, when Moshe came down from mount Sinai with the two tables of testimony in Moshes’ hand, when he cam down from the mount that Moshe wist not that the skin of his face shone while he talked with him. And when Aharon and all the children of Israel saw Moshe, behold, the skin of his face shone; and they were afraid to come nigh him.

However, people should not be afraid of us for being filled with the perfect love of Yahvah; rather they should desire to be in our presence and have what we have, unless they have hardened their heart and soul to the extent that the Holy Ghost can no longer work in them.

31-33 And Moshe called unto them; and Aharon and all the rulers of the congregation returned unto him: and Moshe talked with them. And afterward all the children of Israel came nigh: and he gave them in commandment all that YAHVAH had spoken with him in mount Sinai And till Moshe had done speaking with them, he pout a vail on his face.

We should never be afraid or hide the changes the Holy Ghost makes in us; but instead, we should let these changes shine forth to the world around us in and through the loving, compassionate, peaceful good works that we do to help transform this world back into the world Yahvah created it to be, and what His heavenly will desires.

    34. But when Moshe went in before YAHVAH to speak with him, he took the vail off, until he came out. And he came out, and spake unto the children of Israel that which he was commanded. And the children of Israel saw the face of Moshe, that the skin of Moshes’ face shone: and Moshe put the vail upon his face again, until he went in to speak with him.

But in Messiah Yahvahosha we should never cover the majestic things Yahvah has done in us.

In Luke 9:28-43, we are given the account of the transfiguration of Yahvahosha, and as we read it together, understand that it has the same message for us. We also are to be new creations in Yahvahosha.

28-33 And it came to pass about an eight days after these saying, he took Peter and John and James, and went up into a mountain to pray. And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering. And behold, there talked with him two men, which were Moshe and Eliyah: Who appeared in majesty, and spake of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem. But Peter and they that were with him were heavy with sleep: and when they saw his majesty, and the two men that stood with him. And it came to pass, as they departed from him, Peter said unto Yahvahosha, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moshe, and one for Eliyah: not knowing what he said.

Peter is thinking in the physical realm instead of in the spiritual realm, where the  Righteous changes take place.

It’s the inner changes that take place within us that matter, and the ways in which we let them shine forth to the world around us that accomplishes the good works that Yahvah has prepared for us to do.

We should understand just as we are told in 2 Corinthians 6:16: “For we are the temple of the living Yahvah;” which means that we are never to conceal who Yahvah transformed us to be, just as a temple upon the hill cannot be hidden from view.

    34. While he thus spake, there came a cloud, and overshadowed them: and they feared as they entered into the cloud.

We need to remember that fear only comes upon us when we are not perfected in Yahvah’s love, and it’s this perfected love that shines forth from us to the world around us, and brings peace.

    35. And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, this is my beloved Son: hear him"

This message is also for the Assembly today, because most of the Brethren have failed to follow the loving, compassionate and peacemaking teachings of Yahvahosha that lead us to end the warring madness and violence in this world that causes millions of humans and billions of animals to suffer and die every year.

    36. And when it came to pass, that on the next day, when they were come down from the hill, much people met him.

But today we can no longer afford to keep silent.

We must continually speak out about the way Yahvahosha wants us to live and against the evil violent ways of the world.

37-43 And it came to pass, that on the next day, when they were come down from the hill, much people met him. And behold, a man of the company cried out, saying, Master, I beseech thee, look upon my son: for he is mine only child. And, lo, a spirit taketh him, and he sudeenly crieth out; and it tearth him that he foameth again, and bruising him hardly departeth from him. And I besought thy disciples to cast him out; and they could not. And Yahvahosha answering said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you and suffer you? Bring thy son hither. And as he was yet a coming, the devil threw him down, and tare him. And Yahvahosha rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the child, and delivered him again to his father. And they were all amazed at the mighty power of Yahvah. But while they wondered every one at all things which Yahvahosha did, he said unto his disciples,

Shouldn’t we do the same thing or at least speak out about the atrocities taking place on factory farms, in slaughterhouses, in laboratories, and all other forms of wanton violence happening in the world around us?

Of course we should, because this is exactly what Yahvah wants us to do.

This is also what Paul wrote to the Corinthians in 2 Corinthians 3:12-4:2, which applies to us even more today than it did to the Corinthians when Paul wrote his letter, for evil has multiplied in the world around us, even in our Assemblies.

But the perfect love of God never fades away; it always shines forth as a beacon on a hilltop, unless people deliberately hide it.

This is so true, because we always hear people who exploit animals or are indifferent to their suffering, and who are in favor of war, quote from the books of Moses and other Hebrew texts to try to justify their evil ways.

This is walking with Yahvah and living in His heavenly will.

But knowing this and living this are two different things.

When we are transformed by the power of the Holy Ghost, we have to be willing to listen to the Lord calling to us, and answer Him in the same way that Isaiah did in Isaiah 6:8…

    8. Also I heard the voice of Yahvah, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.

This is the beginning of the transformation in us that is seen by the world around us.

Every one of us can do this, if we are willing; for it isn’t our own strength that will accomplish the tasks Yahvah sets before us, but His power working through us.

This is just as Paul tells us in Philippians 4:13…

    13. I can do all things through Messiah which strengtheneth me.

If we have been transformed, we can change the world.

We can rise up as the peacemaking children of Yahvah and help free creation from its present corruption.

    It’s our choice.

    It’s our challenge.

    It’s our calling.

    And we can do it.

  • T&M EFFECTIVE SPIRITUAL WEAPONS REQUIRES EFFECTIVE SPIRITUAL STRATEGIES

In this powerful verse, Paul speaks to us about the subject of spiritual warfare. In fact, this is one of the foundational verses on this subject,so it is vital to understand what Paul is talking about. Today I want to especially draw your attention to three words in this power-packed scripture. Pay special attention to the words, weapons, warfare, and carnal.

First, Paul tells us that we have "weapons." These spiritual armaments have been provided by Yahvah and are at our disposal. They are both offensive and defensive weapons and can be found in Eph 6:13-18. where Paul lists them one by one and explains what each piece represents.

Second, Paul uses the word "warfare." The word "warfare" is taken from the word stratos. By choosing to use this word, the Holy Ghost alerts us to some very important facts about spiritual warfare.

The word stratos is where we derive the word strategy. This informs us that spiritual warfare does not occur accidentally but is something that is strategically planned. Just as any army plans its line of attack before a battle begins, the devil plans a line of attack, decides what methods he will use and chooses the approach he wants to take as he cautiously charts a well-thought-out assault.

But the word stratos doesn't just describe the devil's strategies. It also tells us that if we will listen to the Holy Ghost, it will give us a strategy that is superior to any schemes of the devil. The devil is not the only one with a strategy. The Holy Ghost always holds the key to every victory, and it was to provide us with a divinely-inspired strategy that will null and void the works of the devil every time!

The Hebrew Scripture is filled with examples of divenly-inspired strategies. Consider the case of Joshua and the children of Israel as they stood before the walls of Jericho (Josh 6:1-27). What strategy did Yahvah give them? They were to walk around the walls of Jericho once a day for six days and seven times on the seventh day. Then after the seventh time around the wall on the last day, they were to blow trumpets made of rams horns. None of this sounded "reasonable" to the natural mind, but the effects of that Yahvah-given strategy are still renowned today!

Or consider the time Jehoshaphat sent out a praise team before the army to sing and to worship Yahvah (2 Chron 20:20-25). What army would send singers, and musicians to the frontlines of battle in front of its soldiers? Yet as they sang and praised Yahvah and played their instruments, Yahvah supernaturally set ambushments  and the enemies were smitten.

The day the children of Israel walked from the battle without losing a single fighter. Not only that, but they were also weighed down with gold, silver, jewels, and other riches of abundance! There was so much plunder that it took them three days to gather it! How did they win this famous battle? They received a strategy from Yahvah and then followed it accurately. The results of that strategy are legendary.

In both of these cases, the line of attack made no sense to the natural mind, but it released so much power that it completely crushed the foe. So don't be surprised if the Holy Ghost gives you a strategy that doesn't make sense when you first hear it! Remember, He operates on a higher level than you, and He knows what you don't know. Therefore, He may tell you to do something that seems odd to you at first. But you can be sure that Spirit-inspired strategies always work!

Imagine an army that is fully equipped with weapons of warfare but has no strategy about how to use those weapons against the enemy. Even with all those weapons and artillery at their disposal, an army in this condition would utterly fail.

Likewise although it's crucial that you put on the whole armour of Yahvah, that's just the first step. You must then have a strategy on how to use those weapons and how to attack! Until you receive a strategy from Yahvah on how to use your spiritual weapons, they will be of little help in driving back the forces of hell that have come against you.

This leads to the word "carnal." In Greek, this word is sarko, which describes anything that is of the flesh, fleshly made, or fleshly conjured up or anything that is natural or of an unspiritual nature. Paul uses this word when he writes, "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal..."

In effect, Paul is saying, "Don't look to your flesh for the weapons or strategies. I'm describing to you because they do not arise out of natural talent, mental exercises, or human efforts. These are spiritual weapons and spiritual strategies, and they come from spiritual realm."

When you put all these Greek words together, 2 Co 10:4 carries this idea: "Our Yahvahp-given weapons are to be used in connection with a divine strategy. Don't look to the flesh to find that strategy, for the battle plan you need is not going to arise out of your own natural talent, mental exercise, or human effort."

If you want to receive the strategy needed to assure your victoru, you must turn your attention to the realm of the Spirit, for it is from this realm that you will hear from Yahvah. You must spend time praying in the Spirit and reading the Word. By yourself, you will never conceive a plan that will deliver you.

PRAYER: YAHVAH, I KNOW THAT TODAY I'M GOING TO NEED A SUPERNATURAL STRATEGY TO DO WHAT I NEED TO DO. MY OWN NATURAL MIND IS WORKING ALL THE TIME TO COME UP WITH SOLUTIONS. I'M DOING THE BEST I CAN DO, BUT NOW I NEED EXTRA HELP. I NEED DIVINE STRATEGY--A DIVINE IDEA SO POWERFUL AND EFFECTIVE THAT  NO FORCE WILL BE ABLE TO RESIST IT! I KNOW THAT THESE KIND OF STRATEGIES ARE IMPARTED BY THE HOLY GHOST, SO RIGHT NOW I OPEN MY HEART WIDE TO THE HOLY GHOST, I ASK YOU TO DROP A SUPERNATURAL IDEA INTO MY SPIRIT AND SOUL. PLEASE HELP ME TO PROPERLY DISCERN ITD, UNDERSTAND IT, AND THEN FOLLOW THROUGH WITH OBEDIENCE. I PRAY THIS IN YAHVAHOSHA'S NAME!

    MY CONFESSION FOR TODAY

I declare by faith that the Holy Ghost gives me the strategies and ideas I need. I am willing and ready to do whatever He tells me to do. The Spirit of Yahvah was sent into this world to be my Helper and my Guide, and I know I can fully rely on Him. I must have His direction, or I won't know what to do. so today He will speak to my heart; I will perceive what He tells me to do; and I will obediently carry out His good plan for me!

    QUESTIONS FOR YOU TO CONSIDER

1.Has the Holy Ghost ever told you to do something odd to your natural mind but resulted in His power being mightily demonstrated in situation?

2.Have you found that your natural talent, mental reasoning, and human effort are helpless to win the battles you are facing today?

3.Yahvah is ready to give you the battle you need to have victory in your life. Are you willinhg to spend the time in prayer that is required for you to receie that plan? Bro. Doc
